Counseling Services

Dr. Beth Plachetka’s philosophy is evident in all of her counseling for children, teens, and adults. “No one makes positive changes based on criticism. It is by identifying and building on the individual’s strengths that effective and lasting change takes place.  Speak truth with kindness.” She helps individuals who are seeking help with:

Trauma, PTSD, and Anxiety

Life’s uncertainties can cause a variety of emotional responses such as depression, anxiety or post-traumatic stress. A person’s emotional response depends on a variety of factors including biology, experience, personality, level of support, and intensity of the experiences.

With over 40 years of professional experience, therapists at Safe Harbor Counseling provide a safe, quiet, and comfortable place to help individuals, couples, and families work through challenges from a trauma, PTSD, and anxiety.

Family Counseling

Families come in a variety of configurations and may encompass several generations. Family builds and molds us, gives us a foundation and encourages us to grow. It’s also with family that we are most likely to show our imperfections and flaws, and can become stuck in a stage or routine that is no longer appropriate. The blending of the personalities and roles found in families continuously change as members grow and age. When challenges arise, previously effective strategies and interactions may no longer work.

Therapists at Safe Harbor Counseling have extensive education and experience to help family members identify past and/or current roles and responsibilities, develop empathy, and acceptance of each other with strengths and challenges. These collective strengths will then be used to support their weaknesses.
